(Super!!) Easy Microwave Christmas Cookie In A Mug

The holidays is in the air, and I don’t know about you, but…is that the smell of cinnamon and candy cane? 😉 It’s been a while since I’ve posted a recipe, and it’s kinda tradition on the blog to have at least one special dessert dedicated just for the seasons (who remembers my autumn pumpkin spice bars?), and what better way to start the Christmas caroling and sobbing over Ghost of Christmas Past than some (super!!) easy DIY microwave Christmas cookies in a mug? Yes, they’re in a mug. Yes, you make them in a microwave. Yes, they’re the simplest thing and the tastiest thing you’ll encounter this holiday season.


  • 1 tablespoon of butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
  • pinch of kosher salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 tablespoons of all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of Christmas sprinkles or Funfetti (etc. etc.!!)


  1. Start by melting one tablespoon of butter in a microwave safe mug.
  2. Just heat the butter until it is melted, not boiling.
  3. Please note, you need real butter for this recipe. Spreads will not work.
  4. Add sugar, vanilla, and salt, and stir until combined.
  5. Add one egg yolk to the mug and stir until combined. Set aside egg white to use in another recipe or discard. It’s important that you do not use the egg white as it will get rubbery in the microwave.
  6. Stir in three level tablespoons of all-purpose flour.
  7. Then add Funfetti or sprinkles and stir a final time.
  8. Cook in the microwave for 40-50 seconds.
